Gyre ridesharing app

The latest to the lot, Gyre app has entered the evolving ride-sharing market in Nepal on Womens’ International Day, March 8th. The app has already become popular thanks to its female-friendly feature that allows one female to book a ride with a female.

Like Tootle, Gyre is a pure Nepali venture resulting out of a collaboration with SunBi, a Nepali IT company. Already flush with leaders Pathao, Tootle, Taximandu, and others, Gyre will be looking to ride on its secure riding mantra. The service primarily focuses on efficient riding and ‘freedom to full extent’ for passengers. And not to mention, it is the first ride-hailing service that allows a female passenger to book a ride with a female rider. Those who find a discomfort to ride with male riders will easily find it a choice by default.

Besides, Gyre lets passengers hail a ride on motorcycles or taxis both and offers some unique features. There are features such as Gyre Assistance, Gyre Pink, and the upcoming Call Masking which attempts at providing a comfortable and safe ride to the commuters. The company says it will gradually add more features as it expands. The company has also set aim at becoming the first ride-sharing service to grow beyond the domestic lanes.

Let’s get going at some of Gyre’s key features.

Features of Ride-Sharing Service Gyre

  • Gyre Assistance: This is a cool feature introduced in its wings. It provides vehicle repairing, maintenance, and other related services.
  • Gyre Pink: This is probably the distinguishing feature of this new ride-sharing service. For female commuters, they can choose a female rider for their ride. The exclusive feature will bring relief to many female riders who could be hesitant with male riders.

  • Offline Service: Another mentionable feature of of it is Offline Services. Not a lot is known yet, but the company has mentioned it. It could allow users to carry with some crucial features of Gyre even without an internet connection. When we learn more on it, we will be updating it.
  • Call Masking: The company’s Chief Technology Officer Bijay Barakoti says Call Masking will be another safety feature coming to its service. Focused on females, the feature will help protect uses from calls and sms from unwanted people.

The points system

Another ‘first’ to come with a ride-sharing app Gyre is the points system. Gyre has a points system. Users of this app can earn Gyre points by participating in daily quizzes and being part of certain services.

The users can then redeem the points to enjoy all the features within the app. Besides, users can also transfer their points to help others hail a ride. Meanwhile, for those without money, there is an option to borrow points through the ‘Gyre Sapati’ option.

Barakoti says Gyre won’t impose a commission for first riders and claims it will provide a cheaper riding service than existing platforms. After ride-sharing, the company also has plans to start a food and delivery service in the next 6 months.
