Poco has launched its new M-series smartphone dubbed as Poco M4 Pro 5G in India. The smartphone arrives with notable upgrades and changes. Poco M4 Pro 5G Overview
Poco M4 Pro 5G is the successor to last year’s Poco M3 Pro 5G that was launched in Nepal. The smartphone shares somewhat similar specs to the recently launched Redmi Note 11. The smartphone arrives with specs like a 90Hz display, MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC, 50MP dual cameras, 5000mAh battery, and more.
Design/Display
Taking off with the design of the smartphone, the Poco M4 Pro 5G features the same classic POCO design that we love. The smartphone is thin and weighs only 195 gm. It has a dimension of 163.56 x 75.78 x 8.75 mm. The phone is available in three different color variants such as Poco Yellow, Power Black, and Cool Blue. It has a punch-hole cutout at the front that houses the selfie camera at the top. The smartphone also has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection.
Poco M4 Pro 5G comes with a 6.6 inches FHD+ IPS LCD DotDisplay along with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. The device has a 240Hz touch sampling rate, an aspect ratio of 20:9, 84.8% screen-to-body ratio, and 405 PPI density. The screen also supports the DCI-P3 wide color gamut, Sunlight display, and a typical brightness of 450 nits. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and Ai Face Unlock as the biometrics security.
Camera
Now moving on to the optical features of the smartphone, the phone might disappoint you as it arrives with a dual-camera setup at the rear, which is one less than its predecessor. The Poco M4 Pro 5G flaunts a dual rear camera setup along with the Poco 5G Branding. The rear camera is led by a 50 MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and accompanied by an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and 119° field of view. While on the front, Poco M4 Pro 5G packs a selfie camera of 16 MP with an f/2.45 aperture that captures beautiful selfies.
Talking about the videography aspect of the smartphone, the rear cameras are capable of recording videos up to 1080p@30/60fps. On the front, it records videos up to 1080p@30fps.
MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC
Under the hood, Poco M4 Pro 5G comes powered with the flagship level MediaTek Dimensity 810 Chipset which is a massive upgrade in comparison with the Dimensity 700 of Poco M3 Pro 5G. It is an octa-core processor based on 6nm processing technology, that is equipped with an octa-core CPU with a clock speed of up to 2.4GHz. For graphics, it has a powerful ARM Mali-G57 GPU. The upgraded configuration delivers substantial improvements in performance.
Coming to the memory configuration of the device, it is attached with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64 or 128GB UFS 2.2 internal storage option. It also has a memory expansion option of up to 1TB via a dedicated microSD card slot. On the software front, the Poco M4 Pro 5G runs on MIUI 12.5 for POCO, based on Android 11 OS.
Battery and Connectivity
Same as its predecessor, Poco M4 Pro 5G is also backed up with a massive 5,000mAh (Typ) battery. The smartphone comes with the faster 33W pro fast charging support. It has a USB Type-C port to charge the phone. Poco claims that it lasts up to 179 hours of music, 33 hours of reading, last up to 16 hours of video playback, and 12 hours of gaming. It takes only 59 minutes to charge the phone up to 100%.
