We are near to Festive Season means we can expect new smartphones arriving in the market targeting Dashain and Tihar. Samsung is planning to launch a couple of smartphones in the Nepali market before Dashain which might include the Samsung Galaxy M22 as this device is appearing on the international Samsung’s website with full specifications. Let’s dig deeper into Samsung Galaxy M22 and find out its specs and expected price in Nepal.
Samsung Galaxy M21 is already available in the Nepali market and this upcoming Galaxy M22 is the successor. Recently, the price drop of Galaxy M21 also hints at the launch of Galaxy M22 happening soon.
Not a new design but the design of the Samsung Galaxy M22 is different from Samsung Galaxy M21, especially in rear camera orientation and fingerprint location. Galaxy M22 has a water-drop notch on the top which Samsung termed as “Infinity-U display”. Galaxy M22 might face it has a drawback as the recently launched Redmi 10 Prime arrives with a punch-hole cutout. The chin bezels are thin but noticeable. The dimensions of Galaxy M22 measures 159.9 x 74 x 8.4 mm and 186grams in weight.
Samsung Galaxy M22 comes in a 6.4-inches Super AMOLED display which is protected by glass. Sadly, it has plastic in the frame as well as in the back panel. More about the display, it supports 720 x 1600 pixels resolution and has a 90Hz refresh rate which is handy for this price range smartphone. This display has 600 nits brightness, 83.6% screen-to-body ratio, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 274 PPI density.
Under the hood, Samsung Galaxy M22 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 processor. This is a two-year-old chipset announced back in 2019. Furthermore, this is the same chipset that powers Samsung Galaxy A22, Galaxy F22, Micromax In 1, Infinix Note 8i, Poco M2 Reloaded, and many more. This is one of the disappointing specs from the company. It’s an octa-core processor based on 12nm technology with a max clock speed up to 2.0GHz.
This octa-core processor works hand-in-hand with the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. It has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The storage can be expandable up to 1TB via a dedicated microSD card slot. On the software side, Galaxy M22 is running on the latest Android 11 with One UI Core 3.1 as the user interface of the smartphone.
Talking about the optics, Samsung Galaxy M22 arrives with a Quad Rear camera. It has now a square camera bump for these 4 camera sensors and an LED flash is placed outside, below the camera bump. The quad rear camera is lead by a 48 MP Primary lens with f/2.0 aperture and Optical Image stabilization. It is supported by an 8 MP Ultra-wide lens with 123˚ FOV, 2 MP macro lens, and 2MP Depth Sensor.
On the front, it has a single 13MP Selfie camera placed in a water-drop notch hole. Sad but true, this front camera has a lower resolution than Galaxy M21. For the video recording, both front and rear cameras can record video in [email protected]
Samsung Galaxy M22 arrives with a non-removable, Li-Po 5,000mAh battery and is supported by 25W fast charging and USB Type-C 2.0. According to the company, once fully charged, this device can survive Music playback for up to 106hours, internet usage up to 25hours, talk time in 4G LTE up to 38hours.
The Connectivity options of the Samsung Galaxy M22 includes a Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by), 4G network, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.1, A2DP, LE, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS,, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. This Galaxy smartphone is available in three color options: Black, White, and Light Blue.

Samsung might face a lot of competition with these specs as most of the smartphones are under Rs. 25,000 in Nepal have better specifications. As already mentioned, Redmi 10 Prime, Redmi Note 10, Poco M3 Pro are the biggest threat to the smartphone in the Nepali market.
