Nepal Telecom, the government owned telecom operator is known to launch 4G for prepaid customers on Magh 22. NT made a soft launch of 4G for postpaid users on Jan 1st (Poush 17). It is only in Kathmandu and Pokhara that the 4G network is available now. That time, people have mostly queried about the availability of 4G for prepaid and all parts of the country. The queries even included the compatibility of latest iPhones for Nepal Telecom 4G. As known before, NT is preparing to launch 4G service for the prepaid users on Magh 22. The 13th anniversary of the old government owned company also falls on the same day.
Similar to the promotional 4G offer for postpaid users, some data offers for prepaid may release. But it is not exactly sure. Targeting heavy data usage from 4G, huge data packs or newer offer may launch on that day. That’s just what we believe as it is quite obvious.
Nepal Telecom is currently celebrating their 13th anniversary with various program both internal and external activities. Marking their anniversary, they will be having a function on Magh 22 to announce the availability of 4G to prepaid customers, along with their plan to launch 4G in other parts of the country (for which we will be having another post to come soon).
iPhone compatibility
Regarding iPhone compatibility, Apple will unblock NT carrier code (429 01) in the latest iPhone in their next update. The update its slated for release within end of February or early March but not the exact date. As Nepal Telecom 4G does not work with Apple’s iPhone 6, 6s and 7 handsets, those people having NT Sims and latest iPhone were continuously asking the operator and even us in our comments.
