Xiaomi 200W fast charging hypercharge

Xiaomi has unveiled the world’s fastest 200W wired charger inspired by what it calls ‘hyperCharge technology’. The charger can charge the battery from 0 to 100% in just 8 minutes. Alongside it, the Chinese giant also demoed a 120W wireless charger that charges a phone to its maximum in just 15 minutes.

Xiaomi won’t leave any stone unturned when it comes to revolutionizing fast charging technology. With each unveiling, they have pushed the bar very high. Their latest hyperCharge-inspired fast chargers are the world’s fastest chargers yet.

Xiaomi claims its proprietary 200W wired HyperCharge tech can charge a 4,000mAh battery to 100% in eight minutes. Meanwhile, the 120W wireless superfast charger will completely juice up a device in just 15 minutes. They were tested on MI 11 Pro and MI 10 Ultra respectively.

The Hypercharge Tech Topples Oppo’s Record

Oppo, another Chinese smartphone brand, has also been equally innovative in fast-charging technology. In 2020 it drew headlines with the introduction of fast chargers that was tremendously fast for the time.

Oppo announced its 65W AirVOOC wireless charger that can charge a 4,000mAh battery in 31 minutes. The company also announced a 125W flash charger which takes the same capacity battery in 20 minutes.

However, Xiaomi’s fast chargers powered by its hypercharge technology leapfrogs Oppo’s by a gulf.

How Will It Work In Real Life?

Xiaomi demonstrated its hypercharge tech as part of a promotion on its smartphones. The company was certainly prepared for its desired results and succeeded but how will it work in real life? Xiaomi has kept it mum about how they are going to implement the hypercharge technology on smartphones.

It may take a certain while before Xiaomi brings it to mass usage with complete test and trial across more devices to ensure promised results.

But we can also take the ultra-fast charge technology with a grain of salt. In real life situation, such fast charging technology may not be fully compatible with smartphones. They might result in heat and lead to faster battery degradation. It may also comprise the longevity of the battery life itself.

But only time will tell how the technology will be executed. Xiaomi is certainly smart enough to put all their groundwork in place before they launch the ‘hypercharge’ chargers in the mass market.
