MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset

MediaTek has launched its latest flagship chipset, Dimensity 9400 Plus, with a core clocking up to 3.73 GHz. The chipset will power some of the flagship phones coming later in 2025. The chipset features some improvements in the processing speed and agentic AI performance while continuing the same specifications from Dimensity 9400. Find its key details below.

What’s improved in Dimensity 9400 Plus

The Dimensity 9400+ chipset boasts an ARM Cortex-X925, which clocks at up to 3.73 GHz. This prime core is one key improvement from Dimensity 9400, which had its equivalent run up at 3.63 GHz. Faster core means faster performance, including opening of the apps, multi-tasking, gaming, etc.

Likewise, the chipset features NP 890 but with 20% faster agentic AI performance with Speculative Decoding+ technology. According to MediaTek, it allows developers to convert traditional AI apps into more sophisticated AI apps. The semiconductor maker says that the chipset reinforces momentum in the agentic AI technology.

The processor supports all the latest large language models (LLMs) around the world. It supports Mixture-of-Experts (MoE), Multi-Head Latent Attention (MLA), Multi-Token Prediction (MTP), and FP8 inferencing with much faster reasoning speeds.

What’s the same in Dimensity 9400 Plus

Dimensity 9400+ largely features similarities with Dimensity 9400. It’s got the same three Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores. The chipset supports the latest generation LPDDR5X RAM at a frequency of 1,667 Mbps. For connectivity, it supports sub6 5G, WiFi 7 with up to 7.3 Gbps of data rate, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, etc. It also retains the same 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925MC12 GPU.

For photography, the chipset supports up to 8k video recording at 60fps. The smartphones with this processor can have a display with up to WQHD+ resolution and 180 Hz refresh rate, which is much better than the current standard of 120 Hz.

Which phones are in line to launch with Dimensity 9400 Plus?

The first batch of phones to come with the Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset are Oppo Find X8s and Oppo Find X8s+, while vivo X200s will also feature the same SoC.

The Dimensity 9400+ is a minor improvement over the already capable Dimensity 9400. It’s a flagship silicon, so flagship phones will make use of it. In terms of competition, the chipset competes with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
