Nepal’s first and prominent over-the-top (OTT) platform NetTV has received a license. The company has been conferred the license by the Department of Information and Broadcasting under the Communication Ministry. The move not only gives it a legal base for operation but also encourages other platforms to follow suit.

NetTV is Nepal’s first IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) service, which started in 2017. You can also watch its content on the web or mobile app on the go. NetTV is usually available to users through the top Nepali ISPs’ internet packages. The ISPs are the resellers of NetTV.

Just a few days before, DGo received OTT license. Now, NetTV has also received its. These events have set a precedent for other companies to also get their own in the days to come.

With the license, NetTV can provide 24-hour OTT broadcasting services across Nepal on its mobile app and website, available at nettv.com.np.

The platform serves live TV with dozens of channels across various categories, from sports to entertainment, etc. Plus, subscribers get access to web series, movies, on-demand content, etc.

Obtaining the license as an OTT platform allows NetTV to further accelerate and expand its services for digital content subscribers in Nepal. As more people have turned away from traditional TV to more digital media for content, NetTV will be able to cater to its audience with more diverse content in the future. It has also launched a ‘One Subscription, Unlimited Entertainment’ slogan, which resonates with the viewers’ desires for content with the development of technology.

The company’s CEO, Niran Rajbhandari, has said that in the future, the platform will provide more and better quality content to its subscribers.
