Design & Display
OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G has arrived with a new design on the back with a rectangular camera module. The inspiration comes from the trend of BBK electronics family (OnePlus, Realme, Oppo, Vivo) mobiles having similar module these days. The camera bump has curves. Seems like, Oppo adaptation game has been going strong for OnePlus. The phone is 7.8mm thick & weighs 173g.
For the display, OnePlus has retained an AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. The display is 6.43 inches like its predecessor. The new things here are HDR 10+ certification and a Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. The punch hole screen caters to the front camera on the top left side.

Dimensity 900 5G & Oxygen OS
OnePlus has favored a Mediatek chipset over Snapdragon this time. Powering the phone this time is a 6nm Dimensity 900 5G. The Mediatek silicon comes with 2×2.4GHz Cortex-A78 performance cores and 6×2GHz Cortex-A55 power-saving cores. And the GPU here is a Mali-G68 MC4. The highest configuration for the phone is up to 12GB RAM & 256GB ROM. Also, the storage can be expanded up to 1TB via the dedicated MicroSD slot.
For the software side, OnePlus has the Oxygen OS 11.3 with Color OS-inspired features. But it is still based on Android 11, no Android 12 out of the box for the CE 2 5G. The Oxygen 12 update might arrive soon as OnePlus has promised two years of Android updates & one more year of security updates.
Camera
For the optics, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G is holding on to a triple camera setup as the predecessor. The main camera is a 64MP shooter with f/1.8 aperture which can shoot up to 4K at 30fps. Whereas, the ultrawide shooter is an 8MP one with an f/2.2 aperture that can capture 119° FOV. Filling the triple set-up criteria is a 2MP macro lens. For stabilization, there is Gyro-EIS.
On the front side, there is a 16MP selfie camera. The front camera is capable to shoot up to 1080p at 60fps. Here too, the stabilization depends on EIS.
Battery & Other Specs
Providing the juice is a 4500mAh battery on Nord CE 2 5G. The charging speed has been boosted with a 65W Super VOOC charger against the 30W Warp Charger of the Nord CE. Even the flagship Oneplus 10 Pro adopted Oppo’s VOOC charging, pointing the company to merging its way with Oppo.
The phone retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and features a Type-C port for charging. The fingerprint scanner is an under-display one. For connectivity, it is equipped with Bluetooth V5.2, WiFi 6, NFC, GPS, etc.
