iPhone 13 Pro Max Wins The Best Smartphone Award at MWC 2022

Apple’s flagship smartphone iPhone 13 Pro Max won the Best Smartphone award at MWC 2022. The device won the popular award in the Device Category. This Award honors the best smartphone that entered the market the previous year, in this case, from January 2021 to December 2021.

Mobile World Congress 2022 has concluded after 4 days of exposition of the latest mobile tech and innovation. And as usual, a host of awards were announced that recognized the best and the brightest from mobile communications technologies. One of those was the “Best Smartphone” award under the Device Category of Glomo Awards 2022. As stated above, iPhone 13 Pro Max claimed the envious prize this term.

Apple’s 2021 crown jewel piped other flagships from 2021 to this prestigious award. The other nominees included top-end smartphones Google Pixel 6 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Meanwhile, the foldable Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 were also in contention. But iPhone 13 Pro Max defied them all and took the superlative prize home.

MWC’s website states that the decision to nominate the best Smartphone award comes from the world’s leading independent analysts, reporters, and managers. Their holistic evaluation of smartphones from the last year derives the award for the best smartphone of the year. In this case, they browsed through the smartphones that entered the market from 2021 to December 2021. And at last, they declared that iPhone 13 Pro Max stood out with all the bells and whistles.

MWC 2022 Device Category Winners

Besides the Best Smartphone, the Device Category also consists of  Disruptive Device Innovation, and Best Connected Consumer Device Awards. Here, OPPO’s FIND N won the prize for the former for its Hinge and Display Integration. As for the latter, ZTE grabbed the recognition for its Next-Gen Cloud AI Home Security Camera Pro.

Device Innovation Award encourages hardware and software innovation in smartphones. The judges look to assess the proficiency of devices’ processing, camera, screen, battery, and other optimizations. They, then select the function that elevates user experience or any equipment.

Likewise, the other category Best Connected Consumer Device is given to a device that brings newer efficiencies, functionality, or smart applications. This category includes music players, cameras, game consoles, or any connected consumer device.

For this, ZTE defied the odds and won the award. The Chinese tech company competed against Huawei for its VR Glass, and Micro OLED for ActiveLook AR-connected glasses. Vodafone was another company in contention for its Neo Smart Technology,
