NTA directs telcos to submit TSC revenue and details

The Nepal Telecommunications Authority has directed all telecom service providers to deposit the 10% Telecommunication Service Charge (TSC) collected from customers and report the details to the Authority. The authority issued the instruction in a notice on Baisakh 04, 2083.

According to the provisions of the Finance Act, 2082, telecom service providers such as telephone, mobile, and ISPs must collect 10% of the service fee from customers as TSC. Likewise, the notice mentions that Section 14, Sub-section 5 of the same Act states that the administration of this telecommunication service charge shall be carried out as determined by the regulatory authority.

According to the Authority, service providers must mandatorily deposit the fees collected from customers into the government revenue account by the 25th of the following month. It has been found that despite the regulation, some service providers haven’t submitted the necessary details and documents to the authority.
