Huawei Connect 2021 Nepal Session Held Successfully

Huawei has hosted its annual industry event Huawei Connect 2021 Nepal Session on November 16, 2021. With the theme Dive into Digital, the program dedicated itself to the topic of the application of technologies like mobile & fixed broadband, data center, digital solar power, cloud service, and 5G.

At the prestigious event, speakers from Huawei and its business partners shared their presentations.

The program was graced by the noteworthy presence of Guest of Honor Joint Secretary from MoCIT, Mr. Anil Kumar Dutta, ICT industry stakeholders from the telecom and ISP sectors, professors from TU and KU, and other distinguished guests.

Mr. Zhang Gave A Welcome Speech at Huawei Connect 2021Nepal

The Huawei Connect 2021 kicked off with the welcome remarks by Huawei Asia Pacific Vice President Mr. Zhang Zhengjun. In his speech, Zhengjun stressed that digital connectivity has become imperative for everyone more so after the pandemic.

Mr. Zhang shared that advanced connectivity and computing would aid economic revival following the spell of COVID-19. He added that developing digital talents is vital for Nepal. He later expressed his hope that Nepal would grow as a data center hub in the region. Mr. Zhengjun also serves as the Huawei Nepal Chairman of the Board.

Meanwhile, Joint Secretary of MoICT, Anil K. Dutta emphasized the need for efficient digital connectivity and bridging the digital divide for recovery post the COVID-19. He also reserved admiration for Huawei over its role in the 4G expansion despite adverse Coronascare.

Huawei Begins Co-operation With Tribhuwan University IoE

At the event, Huawei announced the beginning of its co-operation with Tribhuwan University, Institute of Engineering. This collaboration will help build Huawei Nepal ICT Academy, a state-of-the-art ICT lab that will acquaint students with the latest technologies. This will also give students access to Huawei’s certification programs and lectures by Huawei experts.

Huawei also runs its campaign Digital Talent Development Ecosystem initiative. With this, the tech giant hopes to develop 10,000 digital talents over the next 5 years in Nepal.

Acting Dean of IoE, Prof. Dr. Chintamani Pokharel, and Huawei Nepal CEO, Mr. William Zhang signed the MoU. Joint Secretary Dutta and Mr. Zhang Zhengjun bore witness to the signing ceremony.

Virtual Tour Into Huawei’s Darwin Hall | Huawei Connect 2021 Nepal

The Huawei Connect 2021 Nepal event also featured a segment that offered audiences a virtual tour of Huawei’s Darwin Hall. This is Huawei’s dedicated exhibition hall for 5G located at its headquarters in Shenzhen.

In it, Mr. Dorian Lawson, senior expert at Huawei spoke about the practical applications of 5G in AR tourism. He explained how the fifth-gen technology in the AR system enables rural telemedicine and rural education.

Mr. Justin Chen, Senior Solution Manager, Huawei Asia Pacific Internet Service was among the attendees at the Huawei Connect 2021. He delivered a presentation on Huawei’s new end-to-end solution for ISP businesses. He highlighted the new concept of F5G Fixed networks broadband and its prospects for the future. With support from Huawei’s latest technologies, ISPs in Nepal have seen encouraging signs of growth in the Nepalese ISP market.

Dish home Admires Huawei’s ISP Solutions

Mr. Sudeep Acharya, Managing Director of Dish Media, a DTH was also present at the event. At the event, he shared the company’s ambitious plans in the ISP sector and expressed his confidence in Huawei’s ISP solutions.

CEO of Dish Media, Mr. Sven Willig, and CTO Mr. Manoj KC also spoke on the company’s rising stakes in the Nepalese ISP market.

Mr. Soma Shekhar Veeranna, Regional Director, Huawei Asia Pacific Data Center Facilities Solution also shared his presentation. He expressed his opinions on Huawei’s prefabricated modular data center and indoor data center.

Mr. Deependra Shah and Mr. Ranjan Sharma shared their experience in building the biggest IDC (integrated data center) in South Asia. They also spoke of their plans to expand Ncell’s data center service business.

They were both speaking on behalf of Ncell. The private telco has deployed Huawei`s pre-fabricated data center at Nakkhu.

Huawei Working For Sustainable Power Solutions

Mr. Leo Huang, Solution Director, Huawei Asia Pacific Fusion Solar solution, shared his presentation on Huawei`s digital solar power solution. As a telecommunications infrastructure leader for the past 3 decades, Huawei has had to work on making more power-efficient solutions for base stations in built-in remote off-grid locations. This expertise Huawei has gained has led to Huawei investing in renewables.

Huawei believes in the global trend of “Carbon neutrality” and solar power as one of the primary sources of clean power will have a bright future. Mr. Huang was certain that Huawei`s digital solar solution would help Nepal to achieve transformation in the energy sector.

Huawei’s Everything as a Service For Public Cloud Business

Mr. David Liu, MD, Huawei Cloud Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, shared his presentation on Huawei’s “Everything as a service”. This is Huawei’s model for public cloud business.

Mr. Liu introduced Huawei Cloud`s full-stack products and solutions. Mr. Sushil Pandey, CEO of Applyjob.com & Soft9, one of Huawei’s Cloud Partners, shared his experience of working with Huawei Cloud. They admired Huawei’s Cloud services as faster, more efficient, and more user-friendly than the competition.

Huawei Cloud plans to co-operate with local partners and ecosystems that will help accelerate the digital transformation of Nepal.

Huawei, with its innovative products and solutions, will keep diving into digital to benefit the entire country, along with all ICT industry stakeholders in Nepal.
