Starting off with the design, the Poco M5 has a unibody flat edge design that offers a comfortable grip. It has a plastic frame and plastic rear. The smartphone measures 164 x 76.1 x 8.9 mm in dimensions and weighs only 201 grams. The device arrives in various color options Black, Green, and Yellow.

Poco M5 flexes an enormous 6.58 inches Full HD+ DotDrop display panel along with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels and a high 90Hz refresh rate. It also supports a 20:9 aspect ratio, 83.6 % screen-to-body ratio, 1500:1 contrast ratio, 1B colors, Up to 240Hz touch sampling rate, 500 nits brightness (HBM), 401 PPI density, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, etc. As for biometrics, there is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a Face Unlock.  

Performance

Under the hood, the phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset. It is an octa-core processor based on a 6 nm manufacturing process that clocks a maximum of up to 2.2 GHz. For handling the graphics, it comes with an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. In terms of memory configuration, it is attached with 4/6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64/128GB UFS 2.2 internal storage onboard. The smartphone also comes with memory expansion support of up to 1TB via a dedicated MicroSD card slot. 

While on the software front, it runs on Android 12 with MIUI 13 on the skin top.

Camera

Coming to the photography of the smartphone, the Poco M5 flaunts a triple camera setup at the rear with a squarish camera module. It consists of a 50 MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture. It is further accompanied by a 2 MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture and a 2 MP depth camera with f/2.5 aperture. 

Whereas on the front, the smartphone comes with a 5 MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture for capturing selfies and videos. On the videography aspect, both the front and rear cameras record videos at 1080p@30fps, and gyro-EIS.

As for the battery prowess of the Poco M5, it boasts a massive 5,000mAh battery on it. It also comes along with support for 18 W fast charging technology. The phone charges via a USB Type-C port. Furthermore, the brand claims that it provides 42.46 hours of calling, 476.52 hours of standby time, 21.88 hours of video playback, and 15.02 hours of gaming.
