Facebook and Insta, social networks of Meta, have suffered a major global outage. Users are not able to use the popular social media platform for half the time at the time of writing this post.
If you are confused about why Facebook and Messenger are not showing anything, you are not alone. Downdetector has shown 41,500 users reporting that they are not able to access their Facebook accounts; the time translates to around 7:30 PM in Nepal. The site shows “404 – Page Not Found. The page you’re looking for doesn’t exist” for Facebook. The same case is with Insta.

Facebook outage confuses users worldwide
At the moment, when you browse Facebook, it shows “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.” Right at logging in, you see the problem on Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram. The latter seems to be working now, though.

The thing is, on my Facebook app, I can see people’s and pages’ posts on my feed. However, when I tap on their accounts, it only loads or says that something went wrong.
I myself felt that my password might have been breached. I tried on my WiFi network and then on cellular service to see if something useful came up, but to no avail. However, the internet confirmed that Facebook is experiencing an outage.
But we expect both Facebook and Instagram to be restored soon. Already, I can see pages loading after taking a while. The reason may be technical, and let’s hope that Meta, its parent company, is not having to deal with a cyberattack. But we are sure that during the FIFA World Cup 2026, we don’t want social networks to mess up as many take to social media for updates and share their feedback and experiences. But restoration should be prompt.
