Nepal’s largest online shopping platform, Daraz prepares for 11.11 sale day in Nepal for another year. It was in 2018 that the platform not only created a big hype in the e-commerce industry of Nepal but also had a big boost in their sales. Now for the year 2019, Daraz is all set to come with a big bang for 11.11 campaign here in Nepal.
What is 11.11?
Alibaba’s 11.11 Shopping Festival is undeniably the biggest online sale in the world. It falls on the November 11 of every year. They provide heavy discounts, offers for several products in their platform on the day. At first it was started by Alibaba in China and then all other shopping platform in China followed suit.
Now this shopping festival has reached many countries beyond South Asia. Some also call this 11.11 festival as the “Black Friday” of China or Asia. The mega sale event occurs annually throughout the entire Alibaba global ecosystem including all Daraz markets and Nepal is no different.
Daraz held its first 11.11 campaign last year on 11 November after its acquisition by Alibaba. With the 11.11 campaign, they increased their sales by 80X in comparison to that of an average day. Similarly, 2 lakh users participated in the biggest online sale event ever in Nepal. On that particular day, more than 1000 sellers took part and sold their items through Daraz.
With the preparations full on, Daraz promises to make this 11.11 for 2019 even more bigger. As known, they have added more sellers, features and electronic payments in their platform.
“Building up on the success and learning of last years 11.11, Daraz is gearing up to provide consumers the ultimate one-day-sale shopping experience. We’re hiring more people, and listing more products to provide consumers the best possible service. This is definitely shaping up to be the highlight of the year with in-app gaming, crazy vouchers, exclusive deals and live interactive broadcasts on social media,” said Lino Ahlering, Managing Director, Daraz.
Whats in Daraz 11.11 for 2019 in Nepal?
Daraz says they will have more than 3,000 sellers with 3 lakhs products on offer, and expects 4 lakh visitors to the app on the 11.11 /Kartik 25 day (#ekdinkosale). For such huge products and visits, they also need to prepare a big logistics support. Daraz also prepares for the expected 1 lakh orders on the single day, by hiring 400 more DEX heroes (delivery riders) and 50 more customer care agents.
Like the Alibaba’s move in China, Daraz launches Collection points in all of their Hubs around Nepal. This will help the shoppers to save the time and money by collecting the orders from a fixed location. Daraz has set some collection points from where customers can visit and take their prepaid orders as per their convenience. With that, customers also save the shipping cost and the delivery is also quite fast, easy as per their availability.
Daraz also introduces new features like Image reviews and instant messaging to improve the customer’s feedback on the items. This will help prospective buyers to make informed purchase decisions.
Daraz has already started showing glimpse of what they could offer for that day. They will start unveiling offers for the products either branded or non-branded in the platform, few days before the November 11/Kartik 25 day.
