Leading online marketplace Daraz Nepal has announced the Proudly Nepali Initiative that aims at promoting local brands of Nepal.

Unlike other campaigns, this one mainly focuses on highlighting and promoting Nepali brands. This campaign is giving a push to domestic companies which are delivering top quality goods and services in Nepali market.

This new initiative is in line with Daraz’s core values and mission of “uplifting communities through the power of commerce.”

The idea of focusing on localized products promotion solidified with the appointment of Daraz’s new Managing Director Ms. Aanchal Kunwar in February.

A long running project, part of Daraz’s new vision

Daraz says it aims to move ahead with localized business strategy across five markets in the region.  The proudly Nepali campaign aligns with that vision.

Besides, the eCommerce leader says Proudly Nepali is not a one-time campaign. Rather, it will be a long running project that will continue throughout the year.

This project will directly assist Nepali local brands and sellers to increase their market presence online. This will significantly help them reach out to their buyers and run business online in growingly digital age.

Likewise, the Proudly Nepali initiative follows other past campaigns such as Daraz Sahayatri and Sarathi. These two campaigns drew in record numbers of businesses. Daraz says over 11.000 sellers shifted their businesses online through those two previous campaigns.

With this new local brands promotion campaign, Daraz hope to aid Nepali brands increase their market stature and visibility online and leap to new heights with online business.

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
