Subisu Nokia

Subisu, one of the largest ISP of Nepal has installed 100G Nokia’s optical network to expand their internet service. Nokia states, the ISP will use their optical backbone network to reach a new market and improve the quality of service.

After the deployment of the backbone network, Subisu subscribers will benefit from improved service. It also facilitates the company with the ability to upgrade their network up to 1 Gbps. The areas where they have some issues in the backbone network will get better internet speed and high-quality IPTV service.

Internet service providers generally have two challenges while scaling up. The first is to ensure the availability of their services to the place where there is demand. And the second is to assure a congestion-free backbone network from each node to the central office when the subscriber’s shoot up. The backbone network with 100 G and the ability to upgrade further shall put the ISP in a safe zone when putting on their efforts for going big with ultra-fast broadband service.

Benefit to Nepal

Although the mobile penetration has already surpassed the 100 percent mark, there is still room for the expansion of internet services to all parts of the country. Nokia says, their partnership for the industry-leading backbone network comes in line with the Government’s Digital Nepal program. This sort of program will further enhance the adoption of digital services in the country. That will aid in the social and economic growth of the country.

Nokia’s equipment

Using Nokia’s backbone network, Subisu can meet the demand for gigantic capacity from the huge subscriber growth (including the enterprises).

Subisu has now deployed Nokia’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology at 11 different locations of the country. The equipment installed will deliver a 100G optical network to ensure their capacity and further scaling in the future.

This has been the continuation of the partnership of Nokia and Subisu in delivering a world-class backbone network. Last year, Subisu deployed Nokia’s FTTH solution for digital TV and IPTV service in Province 2.

Words from CEOs

After the deployment, Binaya Mohan Saud, CEO Subisu said, “We are committed to using the latest technology to provide best-in-class services to our subscribers with these multiple 100G capacity boxes. In the past, we were trying to meet the demand for more capacity by adding a multiple of 10G. However, frequent upgrades were time-consuming. With this initiative, we will be able to realize our business objective of adding new revenue streams and bringing the latest services to our subscribers. We have a longstanding relationship with Nokia and are excited to leverage their solution and expertise for this crucial initiative. This project will also help us to differentiate our services based on the quality of networks.”

Similarly Vinish Bawa, Head of Emerging Business India Market, Nokia put forward his words as, “We are proud and honored to be selected to execute this significant project. Our proven optical technology cost-effectively facilitates extremely low latency and higher-capacity networks, ensuring a superior quality of experience for the end-user. This solution will enable Subisu to meet the growing bandwidth requirement of its customers and also enable them to break into new market segments. Both consumers and businesses in Nepal will benefit.”

Stand out in Competition.

These days the competition has been fierce among the internet service providers in delivering the best class internet service in all parts of the country. We also believe the deployment of Nokia (being a pioneering telecom equipment and solution provider) equipment will help Subisu to stand out in the competition and deliver good quality internet, TV services.

Subisu has been providing high-speed internet and clear TV service over Hybrid Co-axial and FTTH (fiber) technology.
